Ninety-four-year-old grandma Smilja, struggling with loneliness, fills her worn-down country house with memories. Like most of the locals, her children and later her grandchildren, left the village long ago in search of a better life. Grandma Smilja’s only opportunity for conversation is the arrival of the postman, who brings her pension once a month. After he leaves, the house echoes with silence, a harsh reminder that solitude in old age is unbearable. Despite this, Grandma Smilja finds glimpses of life in the sounds that surround her every day.
