The 30th Palić European Film Festival starts tomorrow

The 30th edition of the Palić European Film Festival will be officially opened at the Palić Summer Stage on Saturday, July 15 at 9 p.m. At the Opening Ceremony, the Aleksandar Lifka Award will be presented to our celebrated actor Bogdan Diklić, for his outstanding contribution to European cinema.

After the Ceremony, the Official Selection – main competition program will be opened with "Jeanne Du Barry" by Maïwenn. This production depicts the life of Jeanne Becque, who was born as the illegitimate daughter of a poor seamstress in 1743, and who rose to fame at the court of Louis XV, becoming his last official mistress.

Along with Bogdan Diklić, this year's Lifka laureates are director Andreas Dresen in the category of foreign creators and actor Nikola Ristanovski from North Macedonia in the regional category. Multimedia artist Maria Kanas is this year's laureate of Underground Spirit Award, assigned by the Palić European Film Festival for outstanding work in the field of independent cinema.

The main competition section – Official Selection of this year's Palić European Film Festival consists of: "Afire" by Christian Petsold, "Seneca: On the Creation of Earthquakes" by Robert Schwentke, "Inside" by Vasilis Katsoupis, "Three Thousand Numbered Pieces" by Ádám Császi, "The Land of Short Sentences" by Hella Joof, "Things Unsaid" by Eleonora Veninova, "Ingeborg Bachmann - Journey into the Desert" by Margarethe von Trotta (out of competition), "Club Zero" by Jessica Hausner, "The Old Oak" by Ken Loach, "Perfect Days" by Wim Wenders (out of competition), "Jeanne Du Barry" by Maïwenn and "Safety First" by Pavle Vučković (out of competition).

Competitive "Parallels and Encounters" program presents: "Slow" by Maria Kavtaradze, "Carbon" by Ion Bors, "Citizen Saint" by Tinatin Kajrishvili, "Cold as Marble" by Asif Rustamov, "Embryo Larva Butterfly" by Kyros Papavassilou , "Do you love me? " by Tonya Noyabryova, "Bread and Salt" by Damian Kocur, "Ordinary Failures" by Cristina Grosan, "Power" by Mátyás Prikler, "Sisters" by Linda Olte and "The Penalty Kick and Sexual Life of Ana Đ" by Milica Stojanov (out of competition).

Nine other sections at the Festival are: The Young Spirit of Europe, North Macedonia in Focus, New Hungarian Film, New European Documentaries, Eco Dox, Homage to Underground Spirit Award laureate, EFA Shorts, Selection of films from the Zsigmond Vilmos Festival, of Student Film section. The program includes several films as part of Special Screenings.

The supporting program of the festival includes Young Critics Workshop, MIOB workshop for social media, Environmental panel discussion "Consequences of the Use of Depleted Uranium Ammunition In 1999 NATO Aggression - Inspiration for Filmmakers", the exhibition "Traces of a time - Film poster 1980-1989. ", the exhibition "Mija Aleksić - Being an Actor" on the occasion of the centenary of this great actor’s birth, the exhibition of Palić European Film Festival posters from the 5th to the 30th edition, the exhibition "Festival Moments", the panel of the Network of Serbian Cinema Screeners, book promotions, as well as a rich music program. Two film festivals will also be presented: Karlovci Film Festival and ABIFF - International Animation Film Festival from Bucharest.

The AFIFS awards for the Best Serbian Film and for the Best Film in the Serbian minority co-production in the past year will be assigned under the auspices of the Serbian Film Center.

On the occasion of the jubilee was created a game and prize contest "European Film Stories", you can access at www.eufilmstories.com. After answering a few questions, the algorithm, based on your interests, recommends films from the program of this year's Festival. In addition to program recommendations, you will also find videos with actors sharing their impressions and interesting information about European films on the domestic and international scene. To enter the prize competition you need to play the game, post or record a scene from your favorite film and tag @palicfilmfestival in that post on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
