In this year's pre-festival program of the Palić European Film Festival, starting with July 1, the sections Europe 4 kids, Best of Europe and Homage to Aleksandar Lifka Award laureates will be screened at the Eurocinema in Subotica. Cinema on the Square section is on the program from July 8 at Subotica's town square, while on July 12 and 13, screenings will take place for the first time at the Beach Bar in Palić.
As part of the Europe 4 Kids section, seven children's animated and feature films, that premiered in 2022 and 2023, will be screened: the animated film MY FAIRY TROUBLEMAKER (Luxembourg, Germany), the film ASTERIX & OBELIX: THE MIDDLE KINGDOM (France), animated films THE AMAZING MAURICE (Germany, Great Britain), DOGTANIAN AND THE THREE MUSKEHOUNDS (Spain), LATTE AND THE MAGIC WATERSTONE (Belgium), FIREHEART (France) and BELLE ET SÉBASTIEN: NEW GENERATION (France). Screenings of the films in this section will take place every day at 5 pm from 1 to 7 July. As part of the "Europe 4 Kids" program audience will have the opportunity to see a selection of short animated film from the ABIFF - Animation Bucharest International Film Festival, one animataed short every day. The Palić European Film Festival presents and screen films from one domestic and one foreign film festival each year. This year the ABIFF festival from Bucharest will be presented to the audience, as an impactful event that turns Romania into a true celebration of animation. Through simultaneous screenings in multiple cities across the country, the festival brings to the forefront the power and magic of animation, with a particular focus on promoting art as a tool against discrimination.
As part of the Best of Europe section from 7 p.m. in the Eurocinema, audience will have the opportunity to watch seven European and Serbian productions that marked previous year. From July 1 to 7, on the repertoire are French comedy ALIBI.COM 2, French adventure action THE THREE MUSKETEERS: D'ARTAGNAN, domestic biographical drama A CROSS IN THE DESERT, the award-winning Spanish-French drama THE BEASTS, Irish-Spanish-French thriller MARLOWE, Croatian-Serbian thriller UNCLE, and French comedy MASQUERADE.
From July 8, the pre-festival program continues with the Homage to Aleksandar Lifka Award laureates, which will be screened at 7 p.m. in the Eurocinema, while in the heart of Subotica, on the town square, at 9:30 p.m., starts Cinema on the Square program, with five films. This section consists of Austrian-German biographical-historical drama CORSAGE, the domestic thriller VERA, the Hungarian action comedy KILLS ON WHEELS, the Hungarian drama GENTLE, which was shown at last year's edition of the festival in the main competition program, and the Italian-Spanish drama ALCARRAS, which won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2022 Berlinale.
This year, for the first time, right before the start of the official festival program, start screenings on the sandy beach in Palić as part of Beach Bar section, with the local comedy DUDES: AGAIN! on July 12 at 9 p.m and the Austrian-German-French drama RIMINI on July 13 at 9 p.m, shown last year in the main competition program of the Festival.
During the pre-festival program and the central part of the manifestation, more than 130 films from all over Europe will be presented to the audience, in 15 different sections and programs. Most films will have their Serbian and regional premiere here at Palić Festival. In addition to the rich film program, the audience will be able to enjoy numerous dynamic accompanying contents - concerts, exhibitions, promotions, workshops and master classes.
