The 31st EFF Palić – Announcement of Events for the Third Day

On the third day of the festival, Monday, July 22, at the Summer Stage in Palić, Kalman's Day by Szabolcs Hajdu will be screened in the Official Selection at 9 p.m., followed by The Last of the Jews by Noé Debré at 11 p.m.

In the Parallels and Encounters program at the Abazija Cinema in Palić, the schedule includes the films Kyuka: Before Summer’s End by Kostis Charamountanis at 6 p.m. and In the Face of Gravity by Fésős András at 8 p.m.

The Galicia in Focus program will feature a segment of short films at the “Mira Banjac” Hall of the Abazija Cinema, beginning at 7 p.m.

The following films will be screened: 30’70 60’120 by Marta Valverde, Barxacova by Rosa Taboada, To Bird or Not to Bird by Martín Romero, Pure by Carmen Méndez, Lichen by Anita Pico, Sandwich Cat by David Fidalgo, Shelter by Anxos Fazáns, and Cordura Island by Mario Fernández Filloy.

In the New Hungarian Film section, the animated film Pelican Blue by László Csáki will be screened at the Eurocinema in Subotica at 7 p.m. In the Eco Dox program, Where We Used to Sleep by Matthäus Wörle will be shown at the Lifka Art Cinema in Subotica at 5 p.m., followed by A Place in the Sun by Mette Carla Albrechtsen at 7 p.m. as part of the New European Documentary Film program.

A selection of short films from the Zsigmond Vilmos Film Festival, Maria Theresa Gives Birth by Nikol Cibulya, The Other End of the Street by Kálmán Nagy, and Winners by Füzes Dániel, will be screened at the Eurocinema in Subotica at 5 p.m. The EFA Shorts program will include screenings of short films Acheron by Manuel Muñoz Rivas, Flower from Another Garden by Jorge Cadena, Hardly Working by Susanna Flock, Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner, and Michael Stumpf, and Airhostess-737 by Thanasis Neofotistos, which will be shown at the “Mira Banjac” Hall of the Abazija Cinema beginning at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, at the Abazija Cinema, the Underground Spirit Award Laureate Homage program will feature short films by this year’s laureate, Mika Taanila from Finland. The films include Patent Nr. 314805, A Physical Ring, The World, Optical Sound, and Future Is Not What It Used to Be. These will be screened from 10 p.m.

In the festival’s accompanying program, the exhibition “Bata in 90 Pictures” commemorating the 90th anniversary of the birth of Yugoslavian and Serbian cinematography legend, Velimir Bata Živojinović, will be opened at the gallery of the Open University at 4:45 p.m.

The panel “Her Story, Her Future - Empowering Women in the Film Industry” is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Grand Terrace in Palić, followed by a talk with Phedon Papamichael, winner of the Aleksandar Lifka Award in the category of foreign creators at 7:30 p.m. At 11 p.m., the band Koikoi will perform a concert at the Abazija Cinema.

There will be a rerun of the Official Selection program at the Eurocinema, with the film “The Magnet Man” screened at 12:00 p.m. and the film “Light Falls” at 2:00 p.m. The total ticket price for both films is 200 dinars.

Tickets for the Official Selection program cost 300 dinars for a one-day pass covering two films. They can be purchased at the Summer Stage box office from July 20 to 26, 2024, starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the Parallels and Encounters competition program are 200 dinars for two films and can be purchased at the Abazija Cinema box office in Palić half an hour before the screening starts. In case of bad weather, films from the competition program will be screened at the Eurocinema (Open University of Subotica, 15 Tzar Jovan Nenad Square) at the scheduled times. Admission to all other festival screenings is free!
