Iván, long disillusioned with life and resigned, who breeds grey cattle on a remote estate, is completely shaken from his usual calm when his narcissistic brother-in-law, Jakab, and his fresh wife, the beautiful Léna, arrive. Ivan falls madly in love with Léna, while Jakab secretly works to sell the estate. Ivan is forced to realize in the turmoil that his life is worthless without the estate. The story is a free-form adaptation of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya.
