The Exquisite Corpus is a hypnotic, sensuous collage assembled from fragments of erotic films, commercials, and discarded footage, crafted entirely through analog techniques. Inspired by the Surrealist method of cadavre exquis, Tscherkassky weaves together disjointed images – nudist films, soft-core fantasies, advertising rushes – into a tactile, dreamlike narrative. A voyage begins with a couple at sea and leads to the discovery of a “sleeping beauty”, before spiraling into a feverish cinematic trance of flickering bodies, textures, and double exposures. Blending playful eroticism with visual experimentation, the film becomes both a celebration of physical desire and an ode to the disappearing materiality of photochemical cinema – an exquisite, vanishing corpus.
