The beginning of the bombing, late March 1999 in Belgrade and a small town in the interior of Serbia. Miki, a forty-year-old failed writer, disillusioned assistant professor at the Department of Art, disheartened democrat, and dismissed columnist, rises from his own grave and reenters his former life. He visits his small family, his terminally ill father, his friends, and the love of his youth. Through these encounters, he frees them, and himself, from illusions. What he failed to do in life, he now attempts in death. He goes about it swiftly, clumsily, stained with ink and blood, yet with the clear conscience of someone who, after a lifetime of hesitation and doubt, has finally taken action. His journey complete, Miki returns to the comfort of his warm, quiet grave to wait out the end of a broken world. Back to...
