Press Report / Day 4

On the fourth day of the Palić European Film Festival, July 20, at the Great Terrace, speakers at the press conference were Igor Ivanov, director of Only Human, Natalija Avramović and Mihaela Stamenković, director and lead actress in The Spring Poem, Teodora Ristovski, actress in Fury, Bernd Bremer, a representative of the Underdox Festival, and director Ivan Ikić and Milan Stojanović, producer of Oasis. Also, promotion of "Writers in Cinema: Literary History of Our Film Experiences" a book by Slobodan Šijan, published by the Serbian Film Center, took place at the conference.

Igor Ivanov's film Only Human shows six characters in six intertwined sequences. Regarding the idea for such an approach, the Macedonian director said: "This idea came to me by chance. We worked on another project and had pitching in various places. During a break in one of the sessions, the idea came to me. I had piece of paper and a pencil In front of me, so I wrote down descriptions of six characters from my home city, as they really were, with names that are practically specimens known from philosophical anthropology. After that, I realized that this black comedy has a genre change in the very idea of the film, so the whole thing turned into a life drama". The film was co-produced by five countries, and the producer from Serbia is Art & Popcorn.

Natalija Avramović, the director of The Spring Poem, commented on the festival life of the film so far and the awards it has received: "The film lives, has its way and I am very satisfied. It is emotional, but also dynamic, at times funny, lively", concluded Serbian director.

Teodora Ristovski, the main actress in Fury by Petar Ristovski, said about the film: "It is a specific film genre. Although short, it is deadly and has a deep message that concerns modern man. Today, especially young women, neglect their families and choose career. By that, they neglect their children, who, of course, suffer."

Slobodan Šijan's anthology "Writers in Cinema: Literary History of Our Film Experiences" brings a selection of texts in which our and regional writers, often from a very personal perspective, write about the phenomenon of film. The book contains texts by Ivo Andrić, Branislav Nušić, Stanislav Vinaver, Rastko Petrović, Boško Tokin, Miloš Crnjanski, Bogdan Tirnanić, Aleksandar Petrović, Danilo Kiš, Dubravka Ugrešić and others. At almost 500 pages, the anthology "Writers in Cinema" contains short stories, excerpts from novels, diaries or memoirs, newspaper articles and other texts in which writers, journalists and filmmakers, from different angles, give their vision of the seventh art from its beginnings to until today.

On the fifth day of the festival, on Wednesday, July 21, at the Summer Stage in Palić, Main Competition Program at 9 pm presents film Petrov’s Flu by Kirill Serebrennikov, and Copilot by German director Anne Zohra Berrached at 11 pm. At the Abazia cinema in Palić, Parallels and Encounters program presents films The Island Within by Ru Hasanov from Azerbaijan (5 pm) and What do we see when we look at the sky? by Georgian director Alexandre Koberidze (19h).
