European Film Festival Palić Pre-festival programs

In this year's European Film Festival Palić pre-festival program, from 3 to 9 July, at the Eurocinema in Subotica, will be presented programs "Best of Europe" and "Europe 4 kids".

The pre-festival program will traditionally be opened by the "Best of Europe" section, which consists of European films that marked the previous year. This section includes seven films from Russia, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Sweden, France and the Czech Republic. The repertoire consists of "Persian Lessons " by Vadim Perelman, "Another Round" by Thomas Winterberg, "Corpu Christi" by Jan Komasa, "Berlin Alexanderplatz" by Burhan Qurbani, "About Endlessness" by Roy Andersson, "The Truth" by Hirokazu Koreeda and "Charlatan"  by Agnieszka Holland

The Palić European Film Festival, following contemporary trends in Europe and listening to the audiences’ needs , this year introduced the "Europe 4 kids" section, which will present seven films for children, from Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Sweden and Northern Macedonia. The audience will have a chance to watch "The Elfkins" by Ute von Münchow-Pohl, " Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond" by Razmus A. Sievertsen, "Pat and Matt – Masters’ Adventures" by Marek Beneš, "My Family and the Wolf" by Adrià García, "Tailless Pele" by Christian Ryltenius, "Stella" by Stojan Vujičić and "Vic the Viking and the Magic Sword" directed by Eric Cazes.

Ilija Tatic, the director of the Open University Subotica, the organizer of the festival, said about this program: "European Film Festival Palić" is aware of the need for the youngest audience to get to know film art from the earliest age. That is why in the pre-festival program we show European cinema hits for children, and during the central event we have a workshop "How to watch a film - small school of etiquette" and the presentation of the Multi Most Festival, which deals with children's films. This way, Palić encompasses audiences of all ages, with an emphasis on education of new film lovers who will follow European cinema in the decades to come."

Palić Film Festival was founded in 1992 and from the small and unpretentious Palić Film Evenings, through persistent attempts to create a serious regional festival in difficult times of isolation and the first attempts to connect the cinemas of then warring countries, it grew into an important point on the map of European film festivals. Since 2003, it has become European Film Festival Palić, turning to promotion of European authors and thus a gathering place for the most important artists who shape the cultural scene of Europe. The festival was visited, among others, by Nikita Mikhalkov, Ken Loach, Roy Andersson, Ken Russell, Brian Cox, Theo Angelopoulos, Christie Puyu, Jiri Menzl, as well as the biggest names of Serbian and Yugoslav cinema. EFF Palić is also the winner of the EFFE award (organized by the European Festival Association) for the best European art festival in 2017-18.

By choosing the best achievements of uncompromising contemporary European cinema, European Film Festival Palić proves, in accordance with the values it has been actively promoting for more than two decades, that every attempt to emancipate and renew critical consciousness makes deep sense.
