A Blue Flower by Zrinko Ogresta and France by Bruno Dumont tomorrow on the program of the Palić European Film Festival

On the second day of the festival, on Sunday, July 18, on the Summer Stage in Palić, in the Main Competition Program at 9 pm, Festival presents A Blue Flower by Croatian director Zrinko Ogresta, and at 11 pm France by Bruno Dumont.

A Blue Flower follows a middle-aged clerk Mirjana working in Zagreb thread factory. On the eve of her 20th work anniversary, when she is to receive an award at a modest celebration, her interactions with her loved ones illustrate parts of her life: the one behind her, the one she is living and the one that is yet to come. Bruno Dumont's France is a film about a famous journalist who, mixing her exceptional career and privacy, experiences a life turnaround caused by a horrible car accident.

In the Parallels and Encounters program, at the Abazija cinema theater in Palić, the repertoire include A Boy by Vitaly Akimov (5 pm), A Devil Jumping Around by Zéphir Moreels and Alban Mercier (17:50) and In the Mirror by Laila Pakalniņa from Latvia (19h).

In A Boy, Twenty-three-year-old Vitaly Akimov portrays his family in the shrinking Russian provincial town of Arsenyev. Ten-year-old Stepan, his brother’s stepson, acts as a guide trough this grim environment, appropriately filmed in black and white. A Devil Jumping Around represents travel experiences and encounters with different values and pagan gods in modern Lithuania, a country where legends and pagan beliefs have survived the influence of the Catholic Church and then the Soviet Union. Film In the Mirror is a story about a crossfit coach who becomes the father of a girl Snezana. Her mother dies, and her father marries a young woman obsessed with crossfit and herself.

As part of this year's Underground Spirit Award homage program dedicated to its laureate Romanian producer Ada Solomon, film Aferim! by Radu Jude will be presented. The screening is scheduled for 9 pm at the Abazija cinema in Palić. Before the screening a public conversation with this year's laureate of this significant Festival award takes palce.

Slovenia in focus program presents a short film Inseparable by Marko Nabersnik at the Eurocinema in Subotica at 5 pm, and then a feature film Corporation by Matej Nahtigal, with a controversial police inspector Leon Gall, who is solving a case related to the biggest investment in the history of a city. As part of the New Hungarian Film section, the Eurocinema in Subotica at 7 pm screens Preparations To Be Together For An Unknown Period Of Time directed by Lili Horvat, which recently won the New Vision Award assigned by the MIOB festival network (Moving Images Open Borders) for a European feature film with an exceptional authorial approach, which deserves wider international recognition. The story follows 40-year-old neurosurgeon Marta who falls in love, leaves brilliant career in America and returns to Budapest to start a new life with the chosen one.

New European Documentary Film program, at 7 pm at the Art Cinema Lifka in Subotica, presents documentary Gorbachev. Heaven by Vitaliy Manskiy. Two hours earlier at the same location, in the Eco Dox section, the repertoire includs film Kovid-19: The World in Danger (directed by: Jarosław Jabrzyk & Łukasz Ruciński). Screenings of eight short films from the Young Spirit of Europe program start at 10 pm at the Abazija cinema in Palić.

The exhibition Camera through time - lenses of history, a collection of film cameras that marked the greatest moments of film art, will be opened at the Abazija cinema in Palić on Sunday at 14:30, and the opening of the Traces of a Time - Film Posters from 1945 to 1970 exhibition is scheduled for 16:30 at the Eurocinema in Subotica, dedicated to film posters from the holdings and archives of the Serbian Film Center.
