“8 Views of Lake Biwa” by Marko Raat rescheduled for new screening time

"8 Views of Lake Biwa" by the Estonian director Marko Raat, initially scheduled for screening on July 24 in the Parallels and Encounters program of the 31st European Film Festival Palić, will instead be screened at a new time, on Thursday, July 25 at 4 p.m. at the Abazija Cinema.

Visitors who purchased tickets for the original date can use the same tickets for the new screening.

Director Marko Raat is in Palić and will participate in a conversation with the audience after the film.

The film “8 Views of Lake Biwa” was named after an Eastern artistic tradition the Eight Views that describes humans’ state of mind through eight poetic motifs, such as evening glow, first snow, sails returning in the evening, rain in the night, autumn moon, temple bell, clear breeze, wild geese departing. These motifs provide the framework for eight intertwining tragic love stories set at modern Old Believers’ fishing villages near Lake Peipus, that stand on the edges of the Estonian-Russian settlements and culture.
