In this year's pre-festival program of the European Film Festival Palić, from July 3 to 17, the audience will have the opportunity to experience the best of European cinema from the past year at the Eurocinema movie theatre and on the city square in Subotica, as well as at Plaža Bar in Palić. The films will be screened in eight sections: Europe 4 Kids, ABIFF, Zsigmond Vilmos, Best of Europe, Aleksandar Lifka Award Laureates Homage, Short Hungarian Films, Slovenian Films, Cinema on the Square and Cinema on the Beach.
As part of the Europe 4 Kids section, seven children's animated films that premiered in 2023 and 2024 will be screened every day from July 3 to 9 at 5pm at the Eurocinema: The Inventor (Ireland), Little Allan – The Human Antenna (Denmark), The Inseparables (Belgium/Spain), Niko – Beyond The Northern Lights (Finland/Germany), Panda Bear in Africa (Denmark), The Super Elfkins (Germany), and Into the Wonderwoods (France). The following selection of short films from the Animation Bucharest International Film Festival – ABIFF will be shown just before the films from the Europe 4 Kids section: Engram (China), Nix’s Symphony (Canada), Felled (Australia), The Turnip (Estonia), and Fram – The Polar Bear (Romania).
As part of the Best of Europe program, the audience will have the opportunity to see seven European and domestic productions that marked the previous two years. The following films will be shown from July 3 to 9 at 7pm: this year's Oscar winner for Best Documentary Feature – No Other Land (Norway); Family Time (Finland); The Nature of Love (France); winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival – The Seed of the Sacred Fig (Iran); Sons (Denmark/Sweden) – screened in the Official Selection at last year's edition of the European Film Festival Palić; Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door – winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival; and The Universal Theory (Germany/Austria/Switzerland).
A selection of Hungarian films from the Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival will be screened at the Eurocinema movie theatre on July 10 at 5pm: Hospice, Heart of a Dog, Purgatory, Winter Sleep.
The Aleksandar Lifka Award Laureates Homage program will be screened from July 10 to 14 at the Eurocinema, from 7pm.
The following short Hungarian films will also be screened at the Eurocinema, on July 11 and 12, at 5pm: Being-Tree, The Kid in You, Clair de Lune, Happy People, Shorts from the Box, Irma Half-Asleep as well as the short Slovenian films: Around the Corner, How I Learned to Hang Laundry, Others Remained Silent, and That’s How the Summer Ended.
From July 10 to 14, one film from the Cinema on the Square selection will be screened each evening at 9:30 p.m. at the City Square: Veni Vidi Vici; Jacques Audiard’s award-winning film – Emilia Perez; Mother Mara by our director and actress Mira Karanović; Pablo Larraín’s Maria, starring Angelina Jolie; and Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino.
As part of the Cinema on the Beach program, the domestic action comedy The Final Lap, directed by Ilija Stojimirović, will be shown on July 17 at Plaža Bar in Palić.
The 32 nd European Film Festival Palić will be held from July 19 to 25, 2025, in Palić and Subotica. The European Film Festival Palić has been supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information and Relations with Religious Communities, the City of Subotica, the European Union through the Creative Europe MEDIA program, as well as numerous friends and media partners.
