Hungarian film production isn’t at its best yet, but in comparison to previous years, in 2013 and 2014 the number of good and interesting films increased. Young filmmakers, new names of Hungarian cinema, have occurred. Many new productions have been made. As significant films we can mention: FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON, THE NOTEBOOK, LIZA THE FOX-FAIRY, NO MAN’S ISLAND, LAND OF STORMS, CAR PARK, DEAR ELZA and SON OF SAUL that had a great success at Cannes Film Festival. These films describe modern man in a contemporary manner so they affect audience in a peculiar and original way. Last year’s film production is both, exciting and magical. International awards and mentions proves the young generations of cinematographers is very successful in dealing with obstacles and challenges. Authors of both generations, younger and older, have proven they can all make a film. So we may calmly state, the contemporary Hungarian cinema has come out of crisis and the new generation of filmmakers have matured.
